Basketball Federation Of Serbia And Montenegro

Kosarkaski savez Jugoslavije (KSJ) - The Basketball Federation of Yugoslavia (BFY) was founded on December 12, 1948 in Belgrade. It has never changed its location, and the name just once: in April 2003, it was renamed to Kosarkasi savez Srbije i Crne Gore (KSSCG) - Basketball Federation of Serbia and Montenegro (SMBF).

The first 55 years of the organization can be divided into two periods. The amateur age – when our pioneers, with an amazing enthusiasm and fervor, were making every effort for the prosperity of basketball, attracting new people with their visionary ideas, courageous decisions and a bold slogan - "basketball to the basketball people".

Since the sixth place at the Olympic Games in Rome (1960), there has started an everlasting age of brilliant results, European and World medals, titles and recognitions. It has been interrupted just once, due to the sanctions imposed to our country.

The foundations of the modern organization have been laid by Danilo Knezevic (President with a five-year-long mandate), hard-working and ambitious Vice-president Nebojsa Popovic, long-standing Secretary General Borislav Stankovic, the one in charge of competitions and their commissions, Radomir Saper, along with the coaching fanatic Aleksandar Nikolic, who succeeded to bring an anonymous national team from the next to last place in Europe, straight to their first finals in Belgrade (1961).
